Interval in the Evening Calm! (夕凪のインターバル！ Yuunagi no Intaabaru！) is the ninth episode of Season 3 of the Free! anime, and the thirty-fourth episode of the overall series. It aired on September 5,2018.

Synopsis[]

Isuzu Mikoshiba brings her high school swim team to meet her older brother, Seijuro Mikoshiba, and his college team. Upon meeting Haruka Nanase, she immediately challenges him to a freestyle race but is stopped by Seijuro. Rin Matsuoka returns to Japan, reuniting with his Samezuka Academy friends and reassuring them about Sosuke Yamazaki's health. Haruka meets Albert Volandel without realizing that he is the world's freestyle record-holder, leading to an unexpected loss in a friendly race. Makoto Tachibana arrives late, having been delayed in order to take a sick student home, and upon seeing Haruka's loss and Albert's enormous lead, becomes worried about Haruka's morale.
